Visakhapatnam Metro Rail project is set to begin in two phases
The Visakhapatnam Metro Rail Project’s Phase 1 will cost an estimated ₹11,498 crore and cover 46.23 km across three corridors: Steel Plant Junction to Kommadi, Gurudwara to Old Post Office, and Thatichetlapalem to Chinna Waltair. Construction is slated to begin in late 2025, aiming for completion by 2028. The project includes 42 elevated stations and a double-decker flyover on a portion of the route, with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) exploring funding options.
